UFood Grill Begins Deploying on Military Bases
February 29, 2012
The "better for you" UFood Grill restaurant chain will soon open three units at the Aberdeen Proving Ground military base in Maryland beginning in March. UFood had announced an agreement in January for global military base development of 26 units with MBUF, LLC, a private investment group of military veterans. The chain has already been approved by the Army/Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), positioning it to support the Pentagon’s efforts to improve the diet and fitness of its troops.
“As we enter the military with our upcoming opening at Aberdeen Proving Ground, we will be at the forefront of healthier eating within the military," says UFood Chairman/CEO George Naddaff. “MBUF is comprised of a group of experienced veterans who understand that leading by example in the area of health and nutrition benefits the military and our country as a whole. We look forward to opening Aberdeen together as we map out further military base locations for UFood.”
UFood's menu utilizes natural, grass-fed beef and cage-free eggs and emphasizes dishes lower in calories and fat and, wherever possible, antibiotic, hormone and gluten free. Offerings include lean burgers, rice bowls, salads, wraps, paninis and smoothies. The chain currently has eight locations, including airport outlets in Boston, Cleveland and Dallas, as well as one at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
