The young customers at York (PA) Haven Elementary School have been sampling new kinds of fresh produce thanks to a program called Market Basket of the Month from produce supplier Ettline Foods, reports the York Daily Record. The program lets children in grades K-3 sample fruits and vegetables such as horned melons, kumquats and star fruit to increase awareness of different choices and promote healthy living.

The program, launched late in the last school year, will bring the same opportunity to each elementary school in the district, thanks to an alliance with the Wellspan Growing Healthy Kids School Partnership initiative.
