Portland (OR) State University plans to make its Ondine dining hall a zero-waste facility, reports the Daily Vanguard. The effort will include composting all food waste, eliminating unnecessary packaging and sending all used cooking oil out to be reprocessed into biofuel. While there is no timetable for completing the conversion, the initiative is planned to be the first step in making the entire campus more sustainable. The university’s dining operations are managed by Aramark.
