Five San Antonio elementary schools are participating in a pilot USDA funded program that uses high-tech cameras to take before and after pictures of individual child lunch trays, and then calculates the amount of calories and nutrients consumed, reports the Associated Press. The pilot, which is being funded for four years, will be used to fine-tune the analysis program so that it can accurately capture exactly what is on the plates, down to a partially eaten piece of fruit.
