Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced plans to privatize foodservice in the state's adult and juvenile prisons, saving some $16.2 million annually, reports the Columbus Dispatch. An RFP for a privatized joint food-service contract for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction and the Department of Youth Services went out on Feb. 8. The proposal was included in the governor's 2013 budget proposal and would cost over 450 state jobs, though some of those could be rehired by the winning outsource bidder.
