The Michigan Department of Corrections has decided against outsourcing its food service or further privatizing physical and mental health care because the bids it received failed to achieve the five percent savings required under civil service rules, reports corrections.com. Bidders would have saved the state 3.1 to 4 percent, or in the range of $10 million, officials said.
