Levy Restaurants Executive Chef Joel Pena has a wicked mind. Not content to leave well enough alone with the dairy fat and sugar already in the traditional milkshake, he has found a way to concoct one with alcohol, nitrates and extra carbs as well.
Meet Pena's Shake 'n Bacon Brew beer milkshake, featuring not just the traditional ingredients like vanilla ice cream but also dark lager beer and bacon crumbles.

Pena specially designed the all-nutritional-no-no-all-the-time item for Levy's concessions operation at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth. It debuts on October 31 (no doubt because it sounds so frightfully good) for the Speedway's AAA Texas 500 NASCAR triple header race weekend.

The Shake 'n Bacon Brew consists of six ounces of local Rahr & Sons Ugly Pug Black Lager, six ounces of Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream, two ounces of bacon-infused maple syrup mixed in a blender and topped with three ounces of whipped cream and bacon crumbles.

A "Shirley Temple" non-alcoholic version using root beer instead of lager is also available.

This is not the first time Pena has used his talents for evil. Other menu items he developed for Texas Motor Speedway's concessions include Hawg Heaven bacon cotton candy, a bacon martini, the Smokin' Hubcaps sandwich (brisket on a glazed donut), a mac 'n cheese hot dog and chocolate covered Pit Stop Popcorn.
