Premium hot dog concept JJ’s Red Hots is opening a unit at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton as part of a partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, a division of Compass Group North America, which manages campus dining at FAU.
“JJ’s is impressive in every aspect of its business and we are thrilled to add them to our portfolio of category leaders,” says Nicole Hatfield, director of brand development for Compass. “They are a hip brand and their commitment to quality and excellence is unmatched. We are sure they are going to be an immediate hit at Florida Atlantic University."
“JJ’s is extremely excited for this opportunity as the value and portability of our core products will resonate very well with students at FAU," says Owner/Founder Jonathan Luther. "I can already envision students here eating our hot dogs while zipping around campus on their skateboards. The high energy of this setting is right in our sweet spot, because we like to have fun with our brand and we don’t take ourselves too seriously—except when it comes to making world class hot dogs and sausages.”
“We want to engage FAU students in the creative process and ‘crowdsource’ ideas using social media," adds JJ’s director of marketing and brand development, Brandy Newton. "We think this will also help with our marketing efforts as 100% of the student body is engaged in social media and online activities."
JJ’s has designed an FAU DOG with pineapple salsa, onions and cilantro-lime cream and will be officially named with the help of its more than 30,000 students. The unit is located in the FAU food court and is open weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
