In anticipation of the upcoming BITE Silicon Valley food and technology festival June 5-7 at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, the International Culinary Center in Campbell, Calif. hosted a preview event and cook-off battle on May 14th featuring in-house chefs from tech giants Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Oracle, Brocade, and Samsung. In the end, Google Executive Chef Malachi Harland was crowned Best BITE winner by a prestigious panel of judges that included celebrity chefs Hubert Keller and David Kinch, Marc Murphy of Food Network, and San Francisco Chronicle restaurant critic Michael Bauer.

Harland's winning dish featuring a mixed grill of quail and pork tenderloin with leek and hazelnut fratelle, served with a green bean, mushroom and frisée salad, and fava bean pesto.

“I feel privileged to have had this opportunity," he said after being presented the award. "The competition was fierce and the camaraderie was great.  I really had no idea what was going to happen, but it was a blast!”

LinkedIn Chef de Cuisine Steven Catalano won second place while Yahoo Executive Chef Russell Grabe finished third. The event was sponsored by Soy Vay.
