Western Kentucky University and campus dining services provider Aramark plan to open a Steak 'n Shake unit in the school's renovated Downing Student Union Center when it opens in Fall 2014, reports SurfKY News. It will be the chain's first unit on a college campus, according to WKU's assistant VP of Auxiliary Services.

Steak 'n Shake, which was founded in 1934 and is noted for its hand-crafted steakburgers and hand-dipped real-milk shakes, operates more than 400 company-owned units and also has another hundred or so franchised locations, primarily in the East, Midwest and South. The unit at WKU will be a counter service model with a pared down menu featuring some of the chain's most notable offerings.
