A hoax concocted by two philosophy professors that campus dining at Smith College would go all vegetarian and all locally sourced had the Northampton, MA, campus up in arms recently, reports the Boston Herald. Dining Services Director Kathleen Zieja came under fire at a student senate meeting over the issue even though she tried to assure students that the rumor was not true.

The professors, who had floated similar false rumors in past years as part of a logic class exercise, even got the college president to play along by having her pretend to dismiss them for prematurely announcing the all-vegetarian policy.
