From healthcare to business & industry, schools to colleges and corrections, the onsite segments have traditionally presented some of the biggest challenges in the industry. Each year, IFMA recognizes the best-of-class providers in these and other segments and honors them in May at its gala Silver Plate Awards banquet. This month, in our special editorial section, you'll meet:

Mark Freeman, senior manager of global employee services for Microsoft Corp., who changed the way the company presents onsite dining to its associates around the world.

Dan Henroid, MS, RD, director of food & nutrition services at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, who rebuilt the retail dining program there with a series of innovative concepts.

Mary Molt, PhD, RD, LD, assistant director of housing and dining services at Kansas State University who is just about a legend in her segment as not only a director and educator but an author of several standard references, including the volume feeding bible Food for Fifty.

Ricky Clark, CDM, CFPP, CFSM, CCFP, training & development coordinator supervisor at the Academy for Staff Development at the Virginia Dept. of Corrections, who previously put in some 20 years in the corrections foodservice field as a manager and director

Lyman Graham, who brought commercial experience to his position as food services director for Roswell ISD, Carlsbad Municipal Schools and Dexter Consolidated Schools in New Mexico.
