For the past 51 years, the Hennessy Trophy has been presented to the United States Air Force installations judged to have the best food-service programs. The judging is conducted by distinguished members of the wider foodservice community, including representatives from both commercial and noncommercial segments, who travel around the world to tour and evaluate the competing operations.
This year, Vandenberg (CA) Air Force Base was named the winner in the single facility category while Fairchild (WA) Air Force Base won the multiple-facility category.
In individual categories, the winners were:
• the 911 Services Flight Pittsburgh (PA) AFS (Air Force Reserve Command award);
• the 121st Services Flight Columbus (OH) (Air National Guard award);
• the 701 Munitions Support Squadron, Kleine Brogel, Belgium (U.S. Air Forces in Europe Food Service Small Site award).
• the 90th Space Wing, F.E. Warren AFB, WY (Air Force Space Command Missile Feeding award).
The Hennessy Awards are based on the entire scope of an installation's foodservice program. Winners have to display excellence in management effectiveness, forcereadiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness.
