A college sought to get students talking about (and eating) food from nearby sources.

We hosted a student symposium with the purpose of educating college students throughout the state on what it takes to chart a career in food. Our spend in Vermont is more than $2.5 million on local sourcing alone. This was the first of many statewide events where we made connections between local food producers in the states we serve, with students in turn helping to bolster the local economy. During the event, we also served “close-the-loop” lunch, which featured dishes using local ingredients.
