Earlier this year, we asked readers to submit nominations of individuals they felt deserved recognition as “foodservice heroes” who went beyond the call of duty in continuing to maintain operations and serve customers as the COVID-19 pandemic entered its second year. In response, we got over 200 nominations and ended up choosing 16 individuals we feel represent the dedication, courage and professionalism of the onsite dining community as a whole.

The individuals we chose represent different market segments and both self-op and contracted operations. They also have different areas of responsibility, from managers and directors to line and support staff, but the one thing they have in common is their commitment to their customers, their organizations and their fellow workers.

They are also just the tip of the iceberg as this gallery roundup of 16 winners will be followed by additional galleries highlighting nominees from the different markets Food Management serves with a roundup of nominees from the K-12 Schools community coming later this week followed by nominees from the College/University and Healthcare communities next week, and from B&I and Senior Dining the week of May 24th.

The following profiles of our 16 top Foodservice Heroes—listed in alphabetical order by last name—include the name and affiliation of the individual as well as of the person who nominated them, plus a lightly edited version of the nomination text explaining why the person is a foodservice hero.
