In this take on the classic New Orleans Sazerac, Marvin Allen has created what he describes as a "sippy cocktail" for the holidays. The combination of chocolate bitters, Cognac and Curacao blend into a rich and soothing drink that's not too sweet, with a kiss of citrus.

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Pierre Ferrand 1840 Original Formula Cognac
1/4 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
1/8 oz agave nectar
5-6 drops Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate bitters
orange twist for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse a rocks glass with the Curacao.

  2. Pour Cognac, agave syrup and chocolate bitters into a mixing cup; stir to chill.

  3. Strain into the Curacao-rinsed glass.

  4. Garnish with orange twist.
