The University of Maine has selected Sodexo to provide dining hall, retail and catering services at six of its campuses.

Increased local sourcing will be a key focus for the vendor, as it’s pledged to meet the university’s 20 percent local-sourcing requirement by the end of its first contract year, growing that to 25 to 30 percent by 2020, according to a release.

Sodexo also plans make wellness a priority by incorporating its Mindful by Sodexo recipes—which aim to provide healthy choices—into at least 55 percent of the resident dining menus.

The foodservice vendor will begin its five-year contract with UMS on July 1.
