A newly opened training facility on the University of Florida campus aims to offer student athletes, coaches and other athletics staff nutritious meals that fuel performance.
The James W “Bill” Heavener Football Training Facility, which debuted on Aug. 14, is home to Gary Condron Family Dining Hall and its 4,200-square-foot kitchen.
Student athletes participating in any sport at the Gainesville, Fla., school can choose from a variety of dining stations offering smoothies, salads, deli items, allergen-free options and more.

The new eatery is managed by Sodexo Live, which also handles foodservice at the university’s football stadium.
“Diet and nutrition are a huge part of athletic performance,” Chip Howard, executive associate athletics director for the University of Florida, said in a statement. “We’ve had great success with Sodexo Live! serving our fans for years now, so we knew they would be the perfect fit to fuel our student athletes in this state-of-the-art facility.”
Student athletes can choose from among smoothies, salads, deli items, allergen-free options and more.
The university estimates that Condron Family Dining Hall will serve up to 400 customers per daypart.
