Sodexo Inc. and maintenance-service provider DTZ Inc. have filed claims with a South Carolina official that allege South Carolina State University has breached its contracts with them. The vendors are asking to be paid the amount they claim they are owed—about  $10.7 million—plus plus 15 percent yearly interest on the debts and the cost of their claims, as reported by The Times and Democrat.

Sodexo provides the school’s foodservices.

Sonja Bennett, S.C. State vice president for external affairs, stated earlier this week the companies have not sued the university, yet are trying to collect money the university owes them.

In mid-March, the institution said it owed vendors about $10.3 million. Of that, about $4.3 million was more than 120 days past due and $1.8 million was more than three months past due, according to The Times and Democrat.
