Students at Liberty University made a virtual trip to the Big Apple on Feb. 26th, thanks to a New York City themed special "staycation" event in the school's Reber-Thomas Dining Hall, complete with a menu of iconic New York fare. The program is part of dining services provider Sodexo’s Staycation national promotion, through which students can enter to win a trip to Orlando, Los Angeles or New York City.

Reber-Thomas was decorated with subway signs, NYC iconic symbols, and featured a photo booth where guests could take photos with a living Statue of Liberty. In addition, the largest dining stations were renamed and redecorated as New York City landmarks such as Yankee Stadium, The Plaza Hotel, Wall Street, Little Italy and Central Park.

The menu served at the various stations included such Big Apple themed fare such as hot dogs and soft pretzels; jerk chicken, plantains, rice, and pigeon peas; chicken and waffles; gyros and kabobs; sausage and peppers; Reubens and kosher pickles; New York style pizza; tacos and empanadas; New York cheesecake; black and white cookies; cannolis; and apple slices with dipping caramel to dip.
