Grubhub is getting itself in front of more college students by teaming up with a widely used campus app.

The delivery company is integrating with Transact Campus, a mobile app that powers payments, credentialing and other services for college students. This integration will enable students to order from on- and off-campus restaurants via Grubhub within the Transact app, and pay with their campus card.

Grubhub said this will give students easier access to more dining options on campus and beyond. Students will have access to Grubhub’s network of more than 365,000 restaurants and can order from wherever they are.

"This integration is a major win for everyone involved and a big step forward to provide a more holistic dining experience for students," said Geoff Ellis, vice president strategic partnerships and business development at Grubhub, in a statement.

The Chicago-based delivery provider has been particularly active on college campuses in recent years. It has partnered with a number robotics companies to power self-driving delivery on campuses and developed a reusable container program in tandem with Topanga.io

With Transact, it will land on the phones of millions of college students. Some 12 million students at more than 1,850 schools use the app, according to Transact. The integration will go live in the next few months.

It builds on the two companies’ existing relationship, which allows students to use their campus ID cards to pay at select off-campus businesses.
