Duke University’s new on-campus restaurant, Tommy’s Rubs and Grubs, officially debuted the weekend of January 13th even though it will not be able to serve alcohol until a liquor license is finalized. The eatery was actually operating for parts of November and December, then underwent extensive renovations during winter break before reopening with an expanded, cook-to-order menu. The owner/operator is an outside restaurateur who also has a restaurant in downtown Raleigh, NC. The location in the campus’s McClendon Tower was previously occupied by a 24-hour diner.
