Nancy Keller nee Levandowski, Iowa State University’s NACUFS-award-winning former foodservice director and a 2011 FoodService Director FSD of the Month, has moved to Gonzaga University as resident district manager, employed by Sodexo.
Since 2006, Keller supervised ISU’s self-operated food service department, which serves 30,000 students and 6,000 faculty at four dining halls, one food court, eight bakeries and five retail shops.
Keller’s new position at Gonzaga marks a transition to working in a contract-managed facility. She tells FSD that she welcomes the support and resources that Sodexo can provide in doing her job.
Keller said she looks forward to enhancing Gonzaga’s dining services by continuing to grow the sustainability and wellness programs and becoming a knowledgeable resource for staff, students, faculty and parents. She also is excited about contributing to the development of food services at the campus’ John J. Hemmingson Center, which is currently under construction.
She accepted the position as a means to pay it forward to Jesuit-run universities and be closer to family on the West Coast. “I was looking to give to the Jesuits from the gifts that they gave me in the beginning of my career and [at] Santa Clara University.”
Thomas Hill has been named ISU’s interim director.
Gonzaga University is located in Spokane, Wash., and has 7,423 students enrolled for the 2014/15 school year.
