Campus dining at UCLA is split between the housing department, which manages residential dining facilities, and Associated Students of UCLA (ASUCLA), which manages retail operations.

Residential dining received major enhancements in the past few years with the openings of two highly innovative new venues, the All-Asian themed FEAST at Rieber in 2011 and the all-healthy, sustainable Bruin Plate this past year. This fall, UCLA is updating all menus at its La Valle Commons with new concepts focusing on fresh and healthier options.

Also new is the Music Café in the Evelyn & Mo Ostin Music Center, which serves both the campus and Music Department students and staff with a menu of coffee drinks, pastries and grab & go. Last year, Wolfgang Puck Express opened in the Ackerman Union as the first casual dining restaurant in the union and the first to serve beer and wine.

In 2012, the LEED Gold Court of Sciences Student Center replaced the aging Bombshelter in Southern Campus. The new facility includes the Bombshelter Bistro, Southern Lights coffeehouse, leased Subway and Yoshinoya concepts, and a small c-store.
