CSP Business Media is undertaking several critical steps to accelerate its long-range growth plan while continuing to enhance services to the Foodservice and Retail Convenience markets. The company—which operates CSP magazine, Restaurant Leadership Conference, Restaurant Business magazine, FARE Conference, FoodService Director magazine and three market-leading digital properties—is changing its name from CSP Business Media to Winsight. As part of the growth strategy, Winsight has added several key executives to its leadership team.
“The name reflects our intention to triple our size in the next five years by continuing to help customers and audiences meet their business objectives through the winning insights we provide and by adding key new resources and offerings to our portfolio,” said Winsight’s CEO, Mike Wood. “But this isn’t a matter of slapping a new sign on our building and declaring it done. We are re-engineering our culture, focusing our business models around digital media, data and events, and adding talent that will continue to aggressively launch new products and search for strategic acquisitions while being mindful of organic growth opportunities.”
Winsight is the only B2B media company providing actionable information and market intelligence to business leaders and suppliers in three of the fastest-growing industries: convenience retailing, restaurants and noncommercial foodservice. Combined, these industries account for $1.7 trillion in annual sales, 1.2 million operational sites and more than 15 million jobs.
The company has positioned itself for rapid growth through the addition of four key executives:
Chris Keating has joined Winsight in the newly created position of chief brand officer, with responsibility for the strategic direction of all its media properties and products. Keating previously was vice president and market leader of Penton’s Restaurant Group.
Alanna Young has come aboard as senior vice president of Winsight Information Services, a newly formed division focused on developing new research solutions for customers. Young was formerly vice president of member services for Hanley Wood.
Grey Montgomery will assume the new role of chief content officer. Grey comes to Winsight from McClatchy where he spent the last two years as Director, Mobile Initiatives. Prior to that, Grey was Director, Strategic Planning for Gannett reporting to then-CEO Craig Dubow. Grey will oversee content across the entire company.
Tara May Tesimu will join Winsight as SVP, Media Products and Audience Development. Tara comes to Winsight from Patch.com where she was VP of Content & Product Strategy.
In addition, Ward Downing has been promoted to the newly created post of president of Winsight Media, a new division that combines print and digital media into one integrated platform. “We’ve knocked down the silos so that we can deliver comprehensive, one-stop solutions to any company looking to reach audiences through our innovative products in foodservice or convenience retailing,” said Downing, who previously was senior vice president of digital media.
To further springboard its fastest-growing division, Winsight has added a key executive to its conference organization through the promotion of Nick Hayman to executive vice president, Winsight Events, which includes the Restaurant Leadership Conference, Outlook Leadership, Convenience Retailing University, FARE Conference and FSTEC. Hayman formerly was senior vice president of Winsight’s foodservice media group.
“These are exciting times,” said Winsight’s CEO, Mike Wood. “Over the past several months we’ve been developing a five-year growth plan that includes new product launches, organic growth initiatives and strategic acquisitions. These investments in our company and the industries we serve validate our market leadership.”
