A $1.3 million check from dining services provider Sodexo allowed South Carolina State University to meet payroll in April, reports the Times and Democrat. The Orangeburg based school, a historically black land grant university, is in desperate financial straits with a $13.6 million deficit. Sodexo had initially refused to pay its contracted commission to the school because it is owed $2.3 million, one of a number of vendors awaiting past-due payments.
