Ovations Adds Clearwater Theater Accounts

Ovations Food Services has been selected to operate onsite foodservices at Ruth Eckerd Hall and the Capitol Theatre, both in Clearwater, FL.  The company, which will take over food and beverage operations on November 1, plans to introduce its Ultimate Bar Experience concept, expanding on the theater’s existing wine bar, as well as roll out new pre-show food offerings in the east café area with its branded Plā Bistro concept and customized offerings to match each event’s theme.

“I have been visiting Ruth Eckerd Hall with my family since moving to Florida in 1991 and have enjoyed the entertainment choices provided by Ruth Eckerd Hall,” says Ovations COO Todd Wickner. “I am excited to deliver Ovations’ creative ideas and services with an already great operating facility.”

Long term plans include expanding the food and beverage areas at the historic Capitol Theatre, which will allow for more amenities at the theater and the addition of a roof top terrace overlooking Tampa Bay. A similar expansion is expected shortly afterwards at Ruth Eckerd Hall, increasing the lobby space and allowing guests to mingle pre-show as well as enjoy increased food and beverage offerings tailored to each event.

Ruth Eckerd opened in 1983 and seats 2,180 guests for live entertainment events.  The City of Clearwater and Ruth Eckerd Hall are currently revitalizing the historic Capitol Theatre, constructed in 1921.  When completely rebuilt by fall of next year, the 720-seat theater will become a venue at which Ruth Eckerd Hall will continue to present all genres of live entertainment.
