Metz Culinary Management has acquired S&S Food Administrators, a unit of a Macon, GA, based commercial cafeteria operator that manages dining operations in a dozen hospitals and three long term care centers in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. After completion of the deal, S&S will take the Metz Culinary Management name.

“We see this a great opportunity to grow the Metz brand in the Southeastern market,” says CEO Jeff Metz. Metz, based in Dallas, PA, had revenues of $108 million in 2010, with business based primarily in the Northeast along with a few accounts in Florida. Jeff Metz says the firm hopes to expand S&S's operations into independent schools and higher education, as well as growing the healthcare business.

Six managers and all staff employees are coming over to Metz with the deal, including Grant Bennett, vice president of operations, who will head the unit. “We share many of the same philosophies about hospitality and quality of products,” says Bennett, who has been with S&S for 27 years. “Metz brings a whole line of opportunities for concepts. Some of the products and concepts we weren't able to offer customers in the past we can now act upon because of Metz's resources.”
