Former Centerplate President/CEO Janet Steinmayer has been named the seventh president of Mitchell College, a liberal arts college located in New London, CT, that offers 26 bachelors degree programs and three associate degree programs.

Steinmayer had spent 16 years with Centerplate, a major provider of food and catering services to the sports/entertainment segment. Named president/COO in February 2005 and president/CEO a year later, she left Centerplate in early 2009 following the company's acquisition by the Kohlberg & Co. private equity firm to found and head Appleseed LLC, a strategic marketing/consulting firm serving artisanal food companies.

"We are so fortunate to have someone with Janet's unique background in higher education and business to build on Mitchell's recognized leadership in providing academic, personal and career success to students with diverse talents and learning styles," comments Dr. Elizabeth Ivey, Chair of the Board of Trustees. "Her multi-faceted background and ability to lead strategically and collaboratively represent the right mix of skills to carry Mitchell into the future."
