Compass Group plc reported organic growth of 5.9%, and profit growth of 19% in constant currency terms for its 2008 fiscal year, ended September 30. The North American unit posted an organic growth rate of 7.1%, with operating profit growing 17% to 6.8%.

The company cites quality new business such as Nortel and Exxon, as well as the Outtakes grab and go concept, for a strong 6% organic gain in the B&I segment in North America. The integration of the recently acquired Professional Services and Medi-Dyn businesses helped drive another good year in both foodservice and support services in healthcare while strong enrollment increases and growing participation in school meal programs and college board plans drove increases in the education segment. Continued expansion by the Levy Restaurants unit has driven revenue increases in the sports & leisure segment.
