Sept. 19—Compass Group North America recently launched a smartphone app that allows customers to order and pay for their meals using their phones, according to a press release.

The service, called Zipthru Mobile, debuted at Compass Group’s BYOB burger concept at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. The app also has been rolled out at the New York Stock Exchange. The app’s users can view menu items, choose a pick up time and prepay using a smartphone, PC or tablet computer.

Compass Group plans to extend the mobile ordering service to other college/universities and B&I accounts this fall.
