Chartwells has won the foodservice management contract for the University of Texas at Dallas, according to the Mercury campus paper. It will replace Aramark following a transition period that will extend over the next year.

Chartwells’ mix of retail dining concepts, including the campus’s first Subway outlet and a retained Chik-Fil-A, should be in place by fall 2009, the paper says. Chartwells will also manage UTD’s new dining hall. The school is in the process of developing its first mandatory meal plan for freshmen who will reside in a new residence hall currently under construction. A voluntary meal plan will be available to for other students as well.
