June 17—The University of Kansas in Lawrence has hired Centerplate to manage its food and beverage concessions at its athletics complex. The complex includes the university’s 50,000-seat Memorial Stadium and 16,300-seat Allen Fieldhouse. Centerplate will upgrade concession stands and introduce new menu concepts, such as Rock Chalk Grill, named after KU’s Rock Chalk chant and Phog’s Fieldhouse Favorites, named after legendary basketball coach Phog Allen.

"Centerplate brings a winning track record from its operations in both collegiate and professional sports venues," Sean Lester, associate athletics director at the university, said in a press release "In 2008, Centerplate performed a strategic analysis of our offerings and designed foodservice enhancements to accompany our multimillion renovation of Allen Fieldhouse. We were very impressed by their work and we look forward to their fresh approach to elevating the Kansas Athletics' fan experience.”
