Aug. 24—Aramark Higher Education is rolling out reusable to-go containers at several of its campuses this fall.

Aramark successfully piloted the Green Thread to-go container at several campuses last year including Baylor University in Waco, Texas, University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and University of Florida in Gainsville. Since implementing the containers in fall 2008, Baylor has reduced disposable container usage by 40%. The containers are dishwasher-safe and are cleaned the same way as dinnerware. They also can be recycled at the end of the product’s life.

“Through our Green Thread environmental stewardship platform, ARAMARK continues to look for ways to reduce our environmental impact,” Michael Leone, senior vice president of Aramark Higher Education, said in a press release. “The re-usable to go container program is the next phase of our ongoing plan to strive toward zero waste and support the sustainability goals of our partner campuses.”
