A soldier has pleaded guilty to accepting a $50,000 bribe to influence a foodservice supply contract for U.S. military forces in the Middle East. Chief Warrant Officer Peleti "Pete" Peleti Jr. could face a total of 20 years in prison and up to $500,000 in penalties. Prosecutors said Peleti, serving in Kuwait as the Army’s theater foodservice adviser for Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, took the cash bribe from the president of a Kuwaiti company in 2005. The contract was for paper products and plastic flatware. The Kuwaiti company did not receive the contract.
