Elior North America to transition to 50% meatless entrees by 2025
The food management company has signed onto the Humane Society of the United States’ Food Forward Pledge

Elior North America is partnering with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to increase its plant-based offerings over the next three years. Elior has committed to 50% meatless entrees in new programs and promotion developments and the company said it plans to accomplish this goal by Dec. 2025.
The two began collaboration through the Food Forward Pledge which is a challenge to food operations to transition at least 10% of meat-based entrees to plant based entrees annually through 2024. The collaboration will entail training events for team members, increasing plant menu options and strengthening plant-forward promotions.
“Climate-friendly food service means we move plants into the spotlight and meat proteins—notorious for their carbon emissions and lack of animal welfare focused practices—to the background. Whether consumers are looking to go meatless, or just eat less meat, making plants the star of the meal is good for our health and good for the planet,” said Kelly Myers, senior director of responsible business and national programs at Elior North America
Recently, Elior was awarded an A grade on the HSUS Protein Sustainability Scorecard which ranks food service companies on their plant-based sustainability efforts.
“We know that food companies are taking commitments on climate change seriously when they have tangible goals to shift their focus to plant-based foods. Elior North America is doing just that,” said Karla Dumas, RDN, director of food service innovation for the Humane Society of the United States. “We’re looking forward to the next steps in our collaboration and we’re excited for Elior to achieve their goals and for millions of consumers to enjoy phenomenally delicious meals that are also animal friendly.”
