Seven nutrition professionals were honored this week at the 27th Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence Awards. 

During this year’s ceremony, which took place in San Diego, Leah Schmidt was presented with the Golden School Foodservice Director of the Year Award for achievements such as nearly doubling the amount of daily meals served in her district.

Other award recipients included:

Ken Yant, director of Georgia-based Gwinnett County Public Schools, Silver Leadership Award

Michelle Curry, director of food and nutrition at California-based South Pasadena Unified School District, Silver Special Achievement Award

Heather D’Ambrosi, team leader-nutrition specialist at Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida, Silver Spirit Award

Dorothy Pannell-Martin, president of SFS21, LLC in South Carolina, Gertrude Applebaum Lifetime Achievement Award

Tamara Earl, child-nutrition supervisor at Ohio-based Mason City Schools, Silver Rising Star Award

Linda Vento, account manager/K-12 school sales at Pennsylvania-based Concept Food Sales, Silver Friend of Child Nutrition Award
