Snickerdoodles are another traditional cookie with a large fan base. Coated with cinnamon sugar, they fill the kitchen with a sweet-spicy aroma as they bake.

Ingredients

2 cups butter, softened
3 cups + 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
4 eggs
5½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cinnamon

Steps

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In mixing bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, whip softened butter until creamy. Add 3 cups sugar and eggs; beat to mix thoroughly.
3. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt to butter mixture. Beat on low speed until well-blended; do not overmix.
4. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets and flatten slightly. Bake at 350 F for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned.
