Residents at Sunrise at Reston Town Center in Reston, Va., were recently treated to live cooking demonstrations when the senior living community hosted its second annual culinary competition, The Connection reports.

The competition included Reston Town Center's executive chef as well as two chefs from nearby Sunrise communities. While the chefs prepared some components of their meals ahead of time, they had to incorporate pasta, the secret ingredient, into the entree dish in a live demonstration. A dessert was also part of the competition.

The competition provides a way for residents and their families to see what goes into the meals served at Sunrise communities, says Nate Salisbury, executive director of Sunrise at Reston Town Center, noting that Sunrise prepares “from-scratch menu items with seasonal ingredients.”
