Sodexo names Maeve McInnis director of local sourcing initiative
The Maine Course program aims to assist the vendor’s accounts with making responsible seafood choices.
Sodexo has tapped Maeve McInnis to oversee all of the foodservice vendor’s business contracts in the state of Maine.
As the first director of Maine Course—a statewide sustainability initiative designed to assist the company’s accounts with making responsible seafood choices—McInnis will cultivate relationships with Maine-based producers in an effort to prioritize locally sourced food for the vendor’s health care, education, government and corporate clients, according to a release.
A goal of the initiative, which was introduced in 2015 in partnership with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, is to purchase 100 percent locally sourced whitefish from the Gulf of Maine by 2020.
“I am most excited to forge relationships with local farmers and food producers in an effort to bring them into our supply chain in a mutually beneficial manner,” McInnis said. “Together, we can address some of the roadblocks that smaller growers and producers face to becoming a vendor for large institutions.”
