NC State Dining Supports AHA Wear Red Day With Distinctive Menu Choices
Dining halls highlight healthy menu items to support American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.

Dining halls at North Carolina State University "went red" on February 7th to help kick off the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, which seeks to highlight the fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S., claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined.
University Dining, in partnership with University Recreation and Student Health Services, promoted heart disease awareness and encouraged heart healthy habits throughout campus. The dining halls highlighted healthy menu items and "went red" in several ways such as adding fresh red peppers to the salad bar and cranberries to water coolers and serving red (well, pink) ice cream. The hydration stations served water infused with watermelon. University Dining also passed out apples and provided heart healthy tips while Student Health Services hosted a know your numbers booth in the gym where students had the opportunity to find out about heart disease risk factors such as blood pressure and waist circumference.
