Native to Italy and Spain, blood oranges are known for the striking color of their flesh which can range from dark pink to deep red. With an intriguing name, and an appearance that sets it apart, blood oranges add a premium edge to what would be traditional citrus applications on menus. The fruit can be found on more than 10% of menus in the United States, with awareness of the ingredient highest among Generation Z and Millennial consumers.
