Make the perfect steak sandwich by preparing your steak overnight. The University of Northern Colorado shares its secret to the perfect steak sandwich in this recipe, while adding juicy flavors and topping suggestions.

Ingredients

3 ½ lb. flank steak
1 ½ cups Italian vinaigrette
10 steak rolls
10 leaves lettuce
20 slices tomato
1 medium red onion, thinly slice  

Steps

  1.  Marinate flank steak overnight in Italian vinaigrette.

  2. Preheat grill. Drain steak of excess marinade, and cook on both sides until internal temperature of 130°F is obtained. Remove from grill and allow to rest for 10 minutes.

  3. Thinly slice flank steak against grain and slightly on bias. Place 4 ounces of steak on each bun. Top with 1 slice of lettuce, red onion slices and 2 slices of tomato. Also tastes great with your favorite creamy horseradish sauce or barbecue sauce.
