The USDA Food & Nutrition Service has published an interim rule on how school districts can qualify for a six-cent-per-meal reimbursement based on meeting requirements for healthier school meals, which go into effect on July 1. The reimbursements will begin October 1. The rule requires state agencies to certify that districts are meeting the new requirements and to pay or withhold the additional reimbursement accordingly. For the formal rule and more details, go to the Federal Register.
