The USDA has announced that it will allow parents to request soymilk as an alternative to dairy milk in National School Lunch and Breakfast Program meals. The requests must be made in writing. The change was made to give students who are lactose intolerance or who have dairy allergies or cultural diet restrictions an alternative calcium source.
