A nutrition- and health-conscious student at a South Carolina magnet high school worked with the district to devise some healthy lunch choices for her senior thesis, reports the Moultrie News. Hannah Manzi, a student at Academic Magnet High School, developed a new lunch menu that would appear once a week for six weeks at her school, including "build-your-own" food bars such as a sweet potato bar with asparagus, cinnamon, honey and brown sugar. To make sure everything complied with nutrition regulations and the school's financial guidelines, Manzi worked with Charleston County School District Foodservice Director Walter Campbell, cafeteria staff and locally based nutrition expert Dr. Ann Kulze.
