St. Paul (MN) Schools will see the cost of foodservice health inspections for permits quadruple following the takeover of that function by the state, reports the Pioneer Press. The function had been handled by the city until July 9th. The state Dept. of Health and Dept. of Agriculture charge different rates for conducting inspections than the city did, and also different rates depending on the type of establishment. The schools had been paying $217 per inspection to the city until now, but will reportedly be paying $820 to the state. Coffee shops, on the other hand, will see their rates drop from $580 to $270.
