Last month, K-12 food service crews reimagined Thanksgiving lunches with curbside pickup and in the classroom in the year of COVID. An attitude of gratitude and a turkey dinner can bring a whole lot of comfort. See how a few of the country’s school food service communities are serving up Thanksgiving this year. Plus, a new take on green bean casserole you won’t want to miss.
Also, Oklahoma City Schools found packaging and production solutions for new school meal services. The schools relied on a flexible staff to implement both curbside and in-school meal delivery during the school year where a combination of in-person and online learning were implemented.
And, Maine schools are now serving restaurant-quality seafood for lunch. The pandemic-driven program is bringing fresh-caught fish to students—while supporting the local economy at Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit 12 in Somerville, Maine.
