Maine's RSU-25 school district is collaborating with the town of Bucksport on a senior feeding project to make meals at centers managed by the Bucksport Bay healthy Communities organization more attractive, reports the Bangor Daily News. The school district nutrition services department will work with a registered dietitian to develop a menu that meets the nutrition needs of seniors, and then school foodservice staff will prepare the food, as much of it scratch-made as possible. The collaboration between the senior dining program and the school nutrition department is intended as a model that, if successful, can be adapted to other communities.
