Manhattan Beach Unified School District in Manhattan Beach, Calif., has replaced plastic water bottles with aluminum-canned water at some of its schools to cut down on plastic waste, Daily Breeze reports.
All the plastic bottles at the district’s five elementary schools were replaced with aluminum cans at the start of the school year. The district’s high school and middle school have the aluminum cans but also still offer traditional plastic bottles.
School officials hope to completely eliminate the plastic bottles in three to four years.
